Today (19 November) is World Toilet Day. This year the campaign is highlighting the shocking fact that despite being crucial in the fight against infectious diseases, one in four people, some billion around the world, still do not have access to a toilet.
WaterAid is one of the leading charities tackling this problem and is championing more action for people’s basic right to decent sanitation. Watch its explanatory film about the links between toilets and climate change here.
Iain Gray MSP said:
“Access to a decent toilet should be available to everyone – and it’s simply not right that 2 billion people still live without one.
“I’m proud to stand with WaterAid in calling for a decent toilet for everyone, everywhere around the globe.”
