Iain Gray MSP has become an ambassador for a new fundraising campaign to support the Brunton Theatre through the Covid-19 pandemic.
In common with numerous other arts and culture venues across Scotland, the Brunton has seen a significant drop in its income during the crisis.
The theatre was forced to close for six months during lockdown and is again temporarily closed after East Lothian was placed in Level 3 of the latest lockdown restrictions. It will be able to re-open next week as East Lothian mpves to Level 2.
Mr Gray has joined other local figures to record a message of support for the Brunton’s fundraising campaign to help the county’s premier arts and culture venue get through the pandemic.
Iain Gray MSP said:
“While it is not located in my constituency, the Brunton Theatre is a vital part of the local cultural landscape. For many decades it has provided a range of opportunities for East Lothian residents to access culture and the arts.
“The pandemic has caused immense harm to funding for the entire arts and culture sector in Scotland. It is essential that we do all we can to support arts venues like the Brunton through this incredibly difficult period.
“That’s why I’m pleased to add my voice to those backing the Brunton. I urge anyone who values what it does to donate now and help enable it to continue offering cultural and entertainment opportunities for all.”
