Comment on substation planning decision

Reacting to the news that Scottish Government ministers have agreed a Scottish Reporter recommendation to approve the application for a substation on the former Cockenzie power station site, Iain Gray MSP said:

“This decision should never have been taken away from the local community. I think local people will be angry that a decision has been made by an SNP Government Minister that rides roughshod over local interests.

“However, we are where we are, and the important thing now is that Red Rock and East Lothian Council work together to find a size and position for the substation which minimises the damage to the economic development potential of this critical site.”
